Our Story

Oceans Deep Candle Co. is a female veteran-owned business creating sustainably sourced, ethically made candles. Savannah, a lifelong sailor, founded Oceans Deep Candle Co. on the belief that by keeping faith when the seas get rough, we'll be able to face whatever storms life throws our way.

Drawing on more than a decade of candle-making experience, we're focused on crafting sustainably sourced, ethically made candles that guide you through uncharted waters to the smooth sailing days ahead.

Our candles

At Oceans Deep, every candle starts with 100% USA-grown vegan soy wax and pure cotton wicks. Our candles never contain animal byproducts, dyes, additives, or hidden stabilizers and we only source the cleanest fragrance oils on the market meeting both the International Fragrance Association and EU standards. Each batch is hand-poured in our studio with care, so you know exactly what goes into your candles, and more importantly, what doesn't.

On sustainability

We strategically source all of our materials from carbon-neutral or carbon-negative partners who grow or produce all components in the US. Sustainability is so important to us that we also have a robust recycling program, called the Oceans Deep Recycling Initiative, where we've recycled/refilled over 1,100 candle jars since 2020 thanks to your help!

We also pride ourselves on the fact that we rely heavily on collaboration with other local artisans for special candles and recycling initiatives. If you're interested in working with us, please contact us!

What's the oceans deep difference?

At Oceans Deep, we do things differently. Every candle is made with integrity, care, and the cleanest ingredients we can source. Here’s how:

  1. Soy Wax, Not Paraffin. We use 100% USA-grown soy wax for a cleaner, longer burn that’s better for you and the planet.
  2. Clean Fragrance Oils.Our fragrance oils are phthalate-, paraben-, and Prop-65-free, sourced from trusted U.S. suppliers, and vetted against the highest standards of the International Fragrance Association.
  3. Pure Cotton Wicks. We use only U.S.-grown cotton wicks with paper threading. Unlike mass produced candles, there's no zinc, lead, or other hidden metals in our candles, ever.

We’ll never be the cheapest candles on the market, but knowing that you're burning a clean, safe, and sustainable candle is worth the peace of mind.

Why is soy wax better than paraffin?

Soy wax is made from hydrogenated soybean oil, which is generated during the processing of US-grown soybeans. It burns longer than paraffin, at a cooler temperature, and burns cleaner because it produces less carbonization (soot).

Paraffin is a byproduct of the petroleum industry and can release harmful chemicals like toluene and benzene when burned, which lower indoor air quality.

Soy wax is renewable, biodegradable, and safer for your home and the environment. We only use vegan soy wax, which does not have animal fat, additives, stabilizers, or dyes to craft the cleanest burning candles on the market.

Where do you ship?

We ship anywhere in the United States, including to our OCONUS friends Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico. So far, we've shipped to 48 states and that's pretty gosh darn neat. If you're from Montana or Idaho - help us knock out those last two states!

Do you do custom orders?

Absolutely! From wedding favors to work events, baby showers to corporate gifting, and everything in between, we've produced over 3,000 custom candles and we're happy to report that they're always a huge hit!
